Welcome to Carbonware — discussions on how the world will change as we decarbonize and strategies to create value. My co-authors and I use the lenses of business, economics, finance, governance and consumer behavior. It’s written mostly by me, John Mulliken, along with the help of a few friends who also work in this fast-evolving space. I was CTO of Wayfair, and now I’m a Senior Advisor at the Boston Consulting Group on topics in retail and decarbonization. I ran the global carbon business for Indigo Ag creating carbon offsets through regenerative agricultural practices, and I run a (very) small-scale solar utility.

It’s challenging to plot a course through what is an intimidatingly large set of decisions and actions. I’ve had a career leading successful new businesses - and it’s going to take a legion of new enterprises, systems and tools to get us through this transition. I’m looking forward to sharing the strategies and tools that I see evolving which may help us not only get there, but also to thrive.

Through the Carbonware newsletter I’ll share approaches, but also what I’m seeing in the investment space. Currently we’re making philanthropic / catalytic investments in early-stage companies that will thrive in and enable a decarbonizing world. More on that soon.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
